Profile
Tucked away in the scenic, rolling hills of Sussex County, Milk Street Distillery is a true grain-to-glass craft distillery operating out of a beautifully restored 125-year-old historic building in downtown Branchville. Founded by brothers Mike and Gordon Geerhart—former commercial contractors and certified welders who literally built the operation with their own hands—Milk Street holds the proud distinction of being Sussex County’s first legal distillery to open in over 70 years.
For craft beverage enthusiasts who appreciate technical precision in the mash tun and the still, Milk Street takes zero shortcuts. Everything is mashed, fermented, distilled, aged, and bottled on-site. Their spirits lineup ranges from the rich, oak-forward Murder Bourbon and War Penny Smoked Bourbon to specialty distillates like Kanpeki Rice Vodka, Dam Break Rye, gins, and rums. Beyond the bottle, the rustic-industrial tasting room and handcrafted wooden bar deliver an incredible community vibe, turning out an inventive, rotating menu of craft cocktails made exclusively with their house-distilled spirits.
Whether taking a scenic drive along Route 206, rolling through on a motorcycle tour through the Delaware Water Gap corridor, or stopping in for a weekend flight, Milk Street is a must-visit craft destination in North Jersey.
