Buena, in Atlantic County, is a small borough in the interior of South Jersey, roughly 25 miles northeast of Bridgeton and situated in an agricultural area at the edge of the Pine Barrens. The borough is surrounded by Buena Vista Township, which encompasses a substantial portion of the central Atlantic County farmland. This part of Atlantic County sits in a transition zone between the sandy Pine Barrens soils to the north and the loamy agricultural land closer to the Maurice River drainage to the south, conditions that support both blueberry farming and grape cultivation.
Hammonton, about 8 miles to the east, is known as one of New Jersey’s primary wine production areas, and wineries operating in the Buena-Hammonton corridor draw on the local agricultural conditions and the rural character of the landscape. Craft beverage visitors in the Buena area have access to wine producers in the Hammonton corridor and a broader South Jersey winery and distillery scene that extends through Atlantic, Salem, and Cumberland counties. The Garden State Parkway is accessible roughly 10 miles east, providing regional connectivity to venues across southern New Jersey.
