Orange, in Essex County, is an urban municipality bordered by East Orange to the east, West Orange to the west, and Montclair to the north. The city sits within the densely populated Newark metropolitan area, roughly 15 miles west of Midtown Manhattan. Like much of Essex County, it is an older urban community that has seen craft beverage production take hold as the industrial and commercial landscape has shifted over recent decades.

Urban Essex County has a growing craft brewery presence, with production operations occupying converted commercial and light-industrial spaces across the county. For Orange residents, the craft beverage options within Essex County include taprooms in neighboring towns as well as venues within a short drive. The area is served by NJ Transit’s Orange light rail branch, which connects to Newark and points east. For those exploring North Jersey’s craft beverage scene, Essex County sits at the center of a corridor that runs through Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties toward the Hudson waterfront.
