Clayton, in Gloucester County, is a small South Jersey borough situated in the agricultural interior of the county, roughly 25 miles southeast of Philadelphia and 15 miles north of Vineland. The surrounding landscape is predominantly farmland and woodland, characteristic of this part of Gloucester County between the more suburban towns along Route 47 and the Pine Barrens to the east.

The South Jersey craft beverage scene extends into this part of Gloucester County, with the Mullica Hill winery corridor to the northwest representing one of the more established concentrations in the region. Breweries have also opened across the county in recent years. Clayton’s location places it within a reasonable drive of both the Mullica Hill area and the Vineland-Bridgeton agricultural corridor in Cumberland County to the south. For residents in this part of Gloucester County, the nearest craft beverage options are spread across a rural landscape rather than clustered in any single town center.
