Farmingdale is a small borough in Monmouth County, located in the inland portion of the county between Freehold to the northwest and Howell to the south. The borough is compact in land area but sits at the intersection of several rural routes connecting the agricultural sections of central Monmouth County. Farmingdale’s downtown has a historic main street character, and the surrounding area includes farmland that has supported small-scale agricultural operations along the Monmouth-Ocean county border.
Monmouth County’s craft beverage scene has grown steadily, with breweries concentrated in the Shore towns to the east and in the county seat area around Freehold. For craft beverage visitors, Farmingdale represents the quieter inland side of Monmouth County, away from the summer Shore crowds. It sits within easy driving distance of Red Bank to the northeast and Asbury Park to the southeast, both of which have more concentrated craft brewery scenes on the Jersey Shore, making Farmingdale a natural stop on an inland Monmouth County route between those two destinations.
