Galloway Township is a large municipality in Atlantic County, covering a substantial stretch of land between Atlantic City to the east and the Pinelands to the west and north. The township includes the historic Smithville village area and shares borders with Absecon, Egg Harbor Township, and Mullica Township. Because of its size and central location within Atlantic County, Galloway serves as a hub for residents across a wide geographic range, with commercial development concentrated along the Route 30 and Route 9 corridors.
The Pinelands border shapes the western edge of the township, and much of Galloway’s land area is undeveloped pine and oak forest characteristic of the Pine Barrens. Craft beverage venues in the Galloway area include taprooms that serve both the residential communities and tourists heading to the Shore. For wine seekers, the Atlantic County winery corridor around Hammonton and Egg Harbor City is within a short drive to the west, and the Shore communities of Brigantine and Absecon are just east, making Galloway a central point for Atlantic County craft beverage touring.
