South Harrison Township, in Gloucester County, is one of the more rural municipalities in southwestern New Jersey. The township is predominantly farmland, sitting in the interior of Gloucester County between the Delaware River communities to the west and the residential suburbs of Washington Township to the east. Its agricultural character makes it a natural fit for the farm-based winery and distillery model that has taken root in this part of South Jersey.

Gloucester County has seen growth in craft wineries and farm distilleries in recent years, and South Harrison’s open land has attracted production venues that rely on estate-grown ingredients or rural settings for their tasting rooms. Visitors coming from the Philadelphia suburbs or from nearby Mullica Hill, which has its own established craft beverage presence, will find South Harrison accessible via rural county roads. The township is a short drive from the Salem and Gloucester County winery corridor that extends through southwestern New Jersey.
