Toms River, in Ocean County, is the county seat and largest municipality in Ocean County, situated on the mainland side of Barnegat Bay across from the barrier islands of Island Beach State Park and Seaside Heights. The township covers a large area and functions as the commercial and administrative hub for a county with a substantial year-round and seasonal population.

Ocean County’s craft beverage scene has grown in recent years, with breweries and a small number of wineries and distilleries serving both the year-round Toms River residential base and the seasonal population that swells in summer when beach communities on the barrier islands are at peak capacity.
