Vernon Township, in Sussex County, occupies a large tract in the northwestern corner of New Jersey, near the New York border. The township is best known for Mountain Creek, a year-round outdoor recreation destination with ski operations in winter and water park activity in summer, which drives significant visitor traffic to an otherwise rural corner of the state.
