Washington, in Warren County, is the county seat of Warren County in northwestern New Jersey, situated along Route 57 in the Musconetcong River valley. The borough serves as the commercial hub for a largely rural county that borders the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to the northwest and connects to the Route 78 corridor to the east.

Warren County’s craft beverage scene is modest, with a small number of breweries and farm wineries serving both the local population and visitors drawn to the county’s outdoor recreation areas including Allamuchy Mountain State Park and the Delaware River corridor. Washington’s position on Route 78 makes it accessible from the Newark and New York metro area, about 60 miles to the east, and from the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania to the west.
